How it started

Hyjiva was born out of the global pandemic of COVID-19 by an experienced team of makers determined to make a difference.

When the pandemic struck, there was a massive shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) in India. As a group of makers, some of us took the opportunity to put our 3D printers and laser-cutting machines to good use to manufacture PPE such as face shields and eye shields for medical workers, police officers, firemen and municipal workers. We also worked with 100+ hospitals across India to manufacture intubation boxes to prevent the spread of aerosolized coronavirus particles during surgical procedures.

In response to the expanding medical crisis arising out of the spread of COVID-19, we developed an Intubation Aerosol Shield to help protect patients and medical professionals. This was done in collaboration with consulting anesthesiologists in Mumbai. That marked the beginning of Hyjiva’s journey.

After stepping in to fill the PPE shortage, the next challenge that the team has taken up is to help people and businesses get back on their feet.
